House
A house is a building where a family lives and where they may take shelter or reside. People who live in a house or who own a house are called homeowners. A person who rents a house is called a tenant. Houses may be built of wood, stone or brick. They may be simple, or they may have many rooms and bathrooms. Houses are often built to be beautiful and appealing. Houses may have large windows, balconies or terraces. They may have an attached garage and a garden. People often decorate their houses with furniture and other household items. Some houses are built in a particular architectural style, such as Georgian, Tudor or Victorian. Houses may be designed to be energy efficient or to be environmentally friendly. Houses are also a symbol of wealth, power and status.
In the United States, there are many kinds of houses. The most common kind of house is a single-family home. The house may be owned by a couple, or it may be rented out to other families. Some houses are very large and expensive, while others are smaller and less costly. In the US, there are also apartments that are grouped together in a complex.
The main character on House is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie). He is a diagnostician who frequently clashes with his colleagues, especially the hospital administrator and Dean of Medicine, Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein). He often ignores the advice of his own patients, flouts hospital rules and has a disregard for safety procedures. He is addicted to Vicodin.
House is an American television drama series created by David Shore. It debuted on Fox in September 2004 and quickly became a hit.
